MegaPro Facts
Q. I know what protein powder is, but what makes MEGAPRO different?
A. MEGAPRO is one of the first sustained release Protein powders on the Australian market. This means that when consumed, the user gets an immediate release of protein into the system (approx. 50%) and then a sustained ongoing release of up to 4 hours later. Basically, MEGAPRO has been designed by NEXT GENERATION SUPPLEMENTS as a high quality multi-purpose protein powder. Instead of a protein for immediately after your workout, one for night-time and maybe one for pre-workouts, MEGAPRO can be utilised at anytime required for an immediate protein infusion and a sustained/constant release of protein into the system. Differing from our HYDRO-ISO, MEGAPRO can be taken at anytime required.
Q. How does MEGAPRO work?
A. MEGAPRO contains the highest quality blends which consist of whey protein Isolate and whey protein concentrate. With this combination, MEGAPRO initially allows for immediate protein release and slower protein release over time. MEGAPRO also contains no added sugars, pre-digested peptides for easy absorption and also comes in four great tasting flavours, chocolate, vanilla, iced coffee latte and the very popular chocmint.
Q. You mentioned highest quality blends, how can I find out if I am getting a good quality protein or not?
A. A commonly asked question and there are two general rules that you need to apply. Firstly the protein powder should mix easily with just a few shakes of a shaker. If you have to blend it or shake it vigorously for longer then a few seconds, that means that it is not breaking up effectively and as a general rule is of poor solubility. If a product is poor in solubility it will most likely be poor in absorption and may lead to many side effects including bloating, wind and repeating. Secondly, take a close look at the ingredients list. Less ingredients generally means higher quality as less fillers have been added in.
Q. How much protein does MEGAPRO contain per serve?
A. Depending on the flavour, servings vary slightly however, an example is of the most popular flavour, chocolate. Each serve has 38 grams which is exactly 1 level scoop of the scoop provided with MEGAPRO. For each 38 grams you get 24.5 grams of protein,7.5 grams of carbohydrates and less then 2grams of fat. The remaining portion is made up of small amounts of less active ingredients such as sodium 200mg, potassium 150mg etc...
Q. I train with weights four and sometimes five days per week along with three 30minute sessions of cardio, how much protein do I need?
A. For a trained athlete you would need approximately 2 grams of protein per kilo of bodyweight. If you weigh 80kgs. you will need approximately 190grams. of protein per day. Keep in mind that the average persons body can only absorb and utilize a certain amount of protein in one serve, to keep your protein intake somewhere around the 25gm. to 35gm. mark per meal should do the trick. If you are good with your food and eat regularly then you may find the need for only one or two protein shakes in the day, however if your nutrition is poor and you know that you are not getting the nutrients to assist your progress then you may need two to three protein shakes a day and even more if your lifestyle is such that eating is not a priority.
TIP: Proper nutrition and particularly proper protein intake can make a great difference to your results in nearly any sport and more so with weight training. If you do not make nutrition a priority your results will be sub-standard and you will never gain maximum benefit out of your training.
