A New Year Could Mean a New You…But Will It?
Here we go; another year and how grateful we all are to be here doing it all again. I really mean that, I’m not being sarcastic. I would much rather be here knowing that I still have a job, a healthy and happy family, some type of normality (as I know it) and that yes, once again I have woken up in the morning – in my own bed, my own home and in a country that is quite safe and secure compared to many other countries. Anyone who believes that what we put out comes back in the similar way in which we emanate it in the first place, will understand my way of thinking, my gratefulness. Constantly being upset, grumpy, or negative only creates negativity. Many people I have known (including myself at a period in time) who harbour anger or anxiety, or just allow negative thoughts to dominate their day to day lives, often create more and more negativity. It may not even be yourself but potentially a person close to you, a friend or relative, or even a work colleague. They create a ‘force’ so strong that the negativity they project breeds more of it in their own world and they may sometimes be left wondering why all these so called negative things keep crossing their path; why they lost their job (when they never made an effort at work in the first place or stole from their employer), why someone abused them on the road (after they recklessly cut off another driver and then gave them the rude finger), why their children always seem to hang around with the ‘wrong’ crowd (when they have never been bothered to listen to, talk with or even understand their children or their children’s friends or parents). Anyway, I am sure you get the drift.
The point is, we are all to a greater degree the product of our own way of thinking, our own way of life and our own thoughts. If it is someone else that is creating the wrong environment, then you have the choice of moving away from that environment or proactively seeking another solution. The difference is that when it’s you, yourself that is suffering, or being negative, you have a lot more power or control over your current situation than you may in fact realise. Sure there may be things that you may not be in full control of, but realistically how you choose to live your life, whether you are in a wheelchair and flat broke with what you perceive to be little hope, or an established business person who is healthy and debt free with money to squander, you still have control over your trajectory in life.
If you’re unhealthy, unfit, or find yourself indulging in habits that you know are not good for your short term or long term health and happiness, then do something about it. Yes that’s it! You can do something about it right now. It may not be the solution you are looking for but it will be the start of something good. A positive thought, a helpful and beneficial way to move forward, an action that feels right; one that you can work on every day or even every minute of the day. Things will start to happen. Be patient as it may take time but keep working at it. There will be positive signs along the way. Champions and successful people are rarely born that way. Healthy and energised people work on these areas in their life either outwardly knowing it or subconsciously just going about their day to day life. If you know that things are not quite right and know that you can be a better version of yourself and want to be healthier or happier, then what are you waiting for.
It’s a new year, and if you’re living an unhealthy, unhappy life, you have the ability to make a change…RIGHT NOW.
