What’s One Of The Easiest Things You Can Do To Make A Difference?

As previously discussed, the way you think about food and organise yourself is paramount to maintaining good long term habits. For some people this can take a little time. DO NOT DESPAIR!! What didn’t work once may provide you with a completely different result next time around. What’s more, timing, advice and mindset can be the instigator of success. I have often mentioned to people that ‘failure is a precursor to success.’ Having experienced this myself, I have noticed that many people around me often tend to fail at their goal prior to succeeding. Failing provides real life experience and we soon learn what not to do and what to do.

Here is a very simple tip that can make a very significant difference:

If you don’t have unhealthy foods readily available you will be less likely to eat the wrong foods.

‘Out of sight out of mind’ is certainly true. Change the way you shop. Food doesn’t magically appear in the pantry or fridge out of thin air; we have to purchase it and place it there for us to consume. Next time you go shopping think about this and simply do not purchase foods that are high in sugar, high in saturated fat, and with little nutritional benefit. Also, don’t shop when you are hungry. Having children at home doesn’t excuse your shopping habits as they too can benefit greatly from eating less of the wrong foods. If you simply cannot stop yourself from buying certain food products, then set yourself a goal to cut back on certain foods by 50%.

I’m betting that at 8 or 9pm at night when you reach in the pantry for an unhealthy snack, if there isn’t anything there you won’t actually get into your car to drive to the shops to buy it. This hurdle alone may be enough to make a difference.
